About Linkin Park

After toiling years in the underground, Linkin Park exploded onto the mainstream scene in 2000. Linkin Park fans formed street teams that helped stoke the flames of the band’s debut major album Hybrid Theory. Linkin Park mixes rock, rap, and electronica into a blend of music all their own. Linkin Park fields a pair of front men in Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, with Bennington carrying most of the vocal load.

Hybrid Theory came at a time when the fusion of rap, samples, and rock was at its height, with bands like Slipknot paving the way. Linkin Park focused on a more sample and turntable-heavy sound, with Bennington’s soaring voice separating them from other bands even more. “One Step Closer” was the first single to hit the radio airwaves, while Linkin Park’s popularity continued to grow with hits “Crawling” and “Papercut.” However, the true smash hit that catapulted Linkin Park to the top of the charts was “In the End” which was as much known by its piano introduction and closing as it was for its lyrics.

The follow-up album Meteora dropped in 2003 and instantly shot to number one on the US charts. Built upon singles “Somewhere I Belong,” “Breaking the Habit,” “Faint,” and “Numb,” Meteora went triple platinum. Linkin Park continued their Projekt Revolution Tour and performed with Metallica on the Summer Sanitarium 2003 tour. After Linkin Park concluded their touring schedule, the band took a break with various members doing side projects.

In mid-2007, Linkin Park’s third studio release, Minutes to Midnight, debuted at number one on the US charts. The first single “What I’ve Done” hit the charts at number one. “Bleed it Out,” “Shadow of The Day,” “Leave out all the Rest,” and “No More Sorrow” would follow. After some time off for side-projects, Linkin Park returned in 2010 with their most mature album to-date, A Thousand Suns. Linkin Park jumped right back into the studio for 2012 release Living Things. To celebrate their new release, Linkin Park will co-headline the 2012 Honda Civic Tour with Incubus and snagged a slot on the iHeartradio Music Festival.
