“Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour” Easy to Warm Up to By Andrea de Vera OnlineTickets.com
Country-music megastar Brad Paisley stays true to traditional country roots, wows crowds during “Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour”
HOUSTON – There’s always plenty of lights, cameras, and high-energy, good-humored, guitar-slingin’ action when country superstar, Brad Paisley, rolls into town – and Brad Paisley’s “Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour 2007” promises more of the same. So much more.
Before a sold-out Saturday-night crowd, singer, songwriter, world-class guitarist, sly comedian, and 2007 CMA Male Vocalist of the Year Brad Paisley delivered quite the show – a show that teemed with Brad Paisley’s witty songwriting, virtuoso guitar prowess, and playful personality.
Equipped with new material from his chart-topping, CMA-nominated Album of the Year, “5th Gear,” Brad Paisley kicked off the show with the opening chords of his latest #1 hit single, “Online,” resonating above the screaming, boisterous crowd.
As Brad Paisley continued to electrify the audience with searing guitar solos and energetic ditties, including “Wrapped Around,” “Mud on the Tires,” “Celebrity,” and “The World,” he could just as easily melt audiences with ballads like “She’s Everything” – one of four #1 hits from Brad Paisley’s multi-platinum album, “Time Well Wasted.”
In one of the show’s tender moments, Brad Paisley picked up an audience member’s cell phone only to serenade an unsuspecting, squealing recipient with a line or two of George Strait’s “Marina Del Rey” before breaking into an aw-shucks chuckle.
Brad Paisley’s great sense of humor shined through on “Mr. Policeman” – a modern-day outrun-the-law tune that had audiences chuckling and laughing out loud to lyrics like “Hey, hey Mr. Policeman/Bet I can run faster’n you can/with your big pot belly/and your cowboy boots/100 bucks says you won’t shoot.”
Throughout an intimate acoustic set, Brad Paisley showcased the gentleness and poignancy in his voice while performing the spiritual “When I Get Where I’m Going,” the lovely “We Danced,” Alabama’s “Dixieland Delight,” and the hauntingly beautiful “Whiskey Lullaby.”
The show picked back up with Brad Paisley’s wildly popular, strangely infectious single, “Ticks,” followed by the ultimate drinking anthem, “Alcohol,” that engaged the crowd in a free-for-all sing-a-long. Brad Paisley returned for an encore with the hilarious “I’m Gonna Miss Her” and a rousing take on Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” to close out the show.
And what a show it was. It was a show that opened strong with 17-year-old starlet and 2007 CMA Horizon Award winner, Taylor Swift, whose short but sweet set included chart-toppers “Our Song,” “Teardrops on my Guitar,” and “Tim McGraw,” while up-and-comer and 2007 CMA Horizon Award nominee Rodney Atkins warmed up the crowd with relatable songs “Going Through Hell,” “I’ve Been Watching You” and standout “Cleaning My Gun.”
It was a show that highlighted Brad Paisley’s undeniable talent, wit, and sweet country charm that have helped to make him one of country music’s most successful stars and winner of numerous industry awards, all whilst staying true to his traditional country roots.
