Headlines and history are made as MLB players pursue and reach milestones this season.

With the 2007 MLB season in full swing, a few “Milestone Men” stand out among the “Boys of Summer.”  As some of today’s baseball stars – and tomorrow’s baseball legends – are fast approaching and surpassing milestone records, history is written and rewritten with every hit, homer, and win.

Highlight Hits

After a 20 year career with the Houston Astros,
Craig Biggio became the 27th member of the 3,000-hit club on June 28, cementing his name among the likes of Rafael Palmeiro, Cal Ripken, Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs, and Dave Winfield.

Heading into the All-Star Break, San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds has recorded 2,896 hits, making Bonds the next player in line likely to achieve 3,000 hits.

Home Run Records
Bonds is also closing in on first place as the all-time home-runs leader.  With 751 homers going into the All-Star Break, Bonds aims to surpass Hank Aaron’s remarkable record (755) set over three decades ago in 1976.

On June 20, the 600 home-run club welcomed Texas Rangers DH Sammy Sosa who became the 5th player in professional baseball to reach that mark.  Cincinnati Reds star Ken Griffey, Jr. is nearing the 600 home-run plateau with 586 homers so far.

After 17 years in the big leagues, Frank Thomas of the Toronto Blue Jays recorded his 500th home run on June 28.  The Big Hurt earned a spot in the elite 500 home-run club, numbering 21 members to date.

With 494 homers, New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez is well within striking distance, while Jim Thome of the Chicago White Sox has 486 homers and Manny Ramirez of the Boston Red Sox is not far behind with 481 homers so far this season.

Wealth of Wins
Pitching ace, Tom Glavine, has tallied 297 career wins since 1987.  After the All-Star Break, the New York Mets southpaw will vie for 300 career wins, joining the likes of Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Nolan Ryan, and Phil Niekro.

The next pitcher in line to reach 300 wins is “The Big Unit” Randy Johnson of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Boasting 284 career wins since 1988, Johnson is a legitimate candidate to reach the 300-win milestone in the near future.

Whether it’s hitting and homering for records or hurling for wins, the 2007 MLB season is packed with phenomenal milestone feats and extraordinary milestone men.  OnlineTickets.com has the MLB tickets you need to watch baseball greats make headlines and history before your very eyes, so order premium MLB tickets today.
