OFF-ENSE AND RUNNING: Cowboys v. Eagles

With all the hype swarming around the Patriots-Colts game and Vikings RB Adrian Peterson running wild for 296 yards this week, fans can’t overlook Sunday’s good, ol’ fashioned, NFC rumble with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys inside Lincoln Financial Field.

Who Came, Saw, and Conquered: The NFC-East-leading Cowboys (7-1) ran off with a 38-17 victory over the bottom-dwelling Eagles (3-5).

Lookin’ Good: The Cowboys offense

While Romo had a good outing with 324 yards and three TDs, WR Terrell Owens recorded a season-high 174 yards on 10 catches. The Cowboys’ formidable backfield duo, Marion Barber and Julius Jones, tallied 106 and 79 total yards of offense, respectively. The Cowboys offensive line held up as well, helping Romo become the first QB the Eagles did not sack thus far in the season.

Seen Better Days: The Eagles’ offense…and defense

Give credit to Dallas’ big “D” not allowing Eagles QB Donovan McNabb to get much going with 27-for-46 passing, one TD, two interceptions, a lost fumble, and three sacks on the day. The Eagles defense, which had allowed 19.4 PPG and only eight TDs in 77 possessions, gave up 38 points and three TDs in Week 9 alone.

Keep an Eye On: QB Tony Romo

After finishing 20-for-25 with 324 yards and three TDs, Romo is so far living up to the hefty six-year, $67.5 million contract extension that he signed last week. Look for Romo to continue making big plays through the air, especially with Barber and Jones threatening on the ground to help open up the passing game.

Week 10 Watch: Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) v. Tennessee Titans (6-2)

In a heated AFC South battle, the Jags and Titans are both vying for that No. 2 spot to stay right on the Colts’ heels. What about the Cowboys-Giants NFC East rivalry game? Forgive us if we say the Giants 6-2 record is a bit inflated, but the Giants’ six wins came against teams that are a combined 13-36, including the lowly Jets, Falcons, 49ers, and Dolphins. The Giants’ two losses came at the hands of the Cowboys and Packers – two teams that are a combined 14-2 on the season.
