FOLK’S LORE: Cowboys vs. Bills By Andrea de Vera OnlineTickets.com
The Buffalo Bills hosted the Dallas Cowboys inside Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, in what was the Bills’ first Monday Night Football home game in 13 years.
Who Came, Saw, and Conquered: While the Bills did everything they could to pull off the underdog upset, someway, somehow, the Cowboys corralled an improbable victory over the Bills, 25-24.
Lookin’ Good: Rookie kicker Nick Folk
The Cowboys’ comeback kid, Nick Folk, felt the weight of the world on his right leg. Folk executed a successful onside kick and twice nailed a field goal from 53 yards out. With the Bills calling a timeout prior to the kick, Folk’s first attempt was waived. On the second go-round, an unphased Folk split the uprights with a career-best 53-yard FG to win the game.
Seen Better Days: Cowboys QB Tony Romo
After throwing just three interceptions in the Cowboys’ first four games, Romo committed five interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) through four quarters against the Bills. Despite the QB’s bobble and lost fumble in the fourth quarter, Romo redeemed himself with two final drives that helped set up the game winning field goal.
Keep an Eye On: The Cowboys’ 5-0 record
With the win Monday, the Cowboys have opened the season 5-0 for the first time since 1983 and the sixth time in team history. The Cowboys’ five previous 5-0 starts have resulted in playoff berths, so history could very well repeat itself in 2007.
Week 6 Watch: New England Patriots (5-0) v. Dallas Cowboys (5-0)
For the fifth time in NFL history, two 5-0 teams will meet in a battle of the unbeatens. With the Patriots averaging 36.4 PPG (ranked 1st in the league) and the Cowboys averaging 35.2 PPG (ranked 2nd in the league), expect a shootout as the NFL’s top offensive teams vie for 6-0 perfection in Week 6 inside Texas Stadium.
