LONE STAR SHOWDOWN: Texans vs. Cowboys By Andrea de Vera OnlineTickets.com
Battling for the Governor’s Cup trophy, the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys faced off on Aug. 25 in preseason play inside Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Who Came, Saw, and Conquered: Texans over the Cowboys, 28-16
Lookin’ Good: The Texans offense
Rookie Jacoby Jones scored two touchdowns including a 91-yard TD on a punt return with 13 minutes left in the first quarter. QB Matt Schaub turned in over two quarters of work, completing 12-of-16 passes for 109 yards with two TD passes and no interceptions. RB Ahman Green added a game-high 65 yards on the ground.
Seen Better Days: Dallas’ running game.
The Cowboys’ Julius Jones and Marion Barber III combined for 48 of Dallas’ 57 total rush yards. Julius Jones, who notched 1,000-plus yards in 2006, and Barber, who was a league leader with 16 rushing TDs, should provide the Cowboys with a formidable one-two punch at running back throughout the regular season.
Keep an Eye On: Jacoby Jones
With three preseason touchdowns, including an 80-yard TD return against the Arizona Cardinals and the 91-yard TD return against the ‘Boys, the Texans (and Texans fans) hope they have a consistent playmaker in Jacoby Jones.
