KEEPING THINGS SPICE-Y: Spice Girls Reunite By Andrea de Vera OnlineTickets.com
As the Spice Girls embark on a six-continent reunion tour this December, fans get caught up in the “Spice World” once again.
Nearly a decade removed from pigtails, platform heels, and preposterous fashion, the Spice Girls are back louder, sexier, and spicier than ever. As the UK’s most successful female pop outfit, the Spice Girls will reunite for a worldwide concert tour – the first for the quintet since 1998 – which kicks off Dec. 2 in Vancouver and ends in Buenos Aires (date to be announced).
The Spice Girls – Geri Halliwell (Sexy Spice), Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Lee Bunton (Baby Spice), and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) – are best known for spreading their “Girl Power” mantra and for producing bubbly pop confections such as “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life.”
With albums “Spice (1996)” and “Spiceworld (1997)” experiencing such widespread success, the Spice Girls have sold more than 50 million records and churned out nine No. 1 singles in the UK, including “Say You’ll Be There,” “2 Become 1,” and “Too Much” just to name a few. “Wannabe” debuted at No. 11 on the US Hot 100 Chart and reached No. 1 just four weeks later.
In conjunction with their upcoming worldwide tour, the Spice Girls will release a “Greatest Hits” collection in November 2007. As the Spice Girls’ fourth album, “Greatest Hits” will feature 15 Spice Girls classics, including tracks from the album “Forever” released after Geri Halliwell’s departure from the group in 1998. As the Spice Girls reunion tour continues to draw buzz, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) has already created a stir in the U.S. after moving stateside with hubby and soccer superstar, David Beckham, earlier this year. Mel B (Scary Spice) continues to make headlines on ABC’s reality-show phenomenon “Dancing with the Stars.”
While each of the Spice Girls has stayed busy with individual ventures, they are all looking forward to taking on the world once again. With concert dates set in America (San Jose, Los Angeles, Las Vegas), London (16 sold-out dates and counting), and more, don’t miss your chance to see these pop icons live and in concert for the first time in almost ten years and possibly the last time – ever.
