The WNBA offers fans a chance to see the best women’s basketball players in the world. With great fundamentals and outstanding teamwork, the WNBA features a pure form of basketball rarely found in the NBA. The high emphasis on teamwork should not take away from the individual talent or in some cases superstardom of WNBA players. As NCAA women’s basketball has become a stronger force, the quality of WNBA rosters has also dramatically improved.

Like the NBA, the WNBA has had its share of dynasties and super teams. The first four seasons of the WNBA were run by the Houston Comets dynasty, which saw the Houston Comets take four-straight WNBA Championships. The Los Angeles Sparks followed suit with two-straight WNBA Championships. After that, the WNBA was opened up to more parity and saw a different WNBA Champion every season since.

The Phoenix Mercury are the reigning WNBA Champions. Thanks to former NBA Championship coach Paul Westhead and a pair of stars in Penny Taylor and Cappie Poindexter, the Phoenix Mercury shocked the WNBA by making the postseason, let alone the championship game. The Phoenix Mercury will try and establish their own dynasty in the 2008 WNBA season, but the streak of parity is almost sure to continue.

The WNBA is flush with more talent than anytime in its history. Los Angeles Sparks selected big center Candace Parker with the first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. With unmatched size and athleticism, Candace Parker has the potential to be the best WNBA player of all time. The WNBA has become more popular than ever before and is setting new ticket sales and TV marks. Order your WNBA basketball tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
