About Blue October

The Alternative Rock band Blue October was formed in San Marcos, Texas, in 1995 by Brothers Justin (vocals and guitar) and Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums) and Ryan Delahoussaye (violin). The Furstenfeld Brothers met multi-instrumentalist Ryan Delahoussaye while attending the High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas. With the help of the Furstenfeld’s parents, Blue October released its first album The Answers in 1998, which featured former bassist Liz Mullaly.

The Answers built Blue October a loyal following in the Houston area. The moderate success caught the attention of major label Universal, which signed Blue October in 1999. Blue October released Consent to Treatment in 2000. The album featured new guitarist Brant Coulter and bassist Matt Noveskey as well as the songs “Independently Happy" and “Amnesia.”

After signing with Brando Records, Blue October released its third album History for Sale. Blue October also replaced guitarist Brant Coulter with C.B. Hudson. The album featured the song “Calling You,” which became a minor radio hit due to its inclusion on the American Wedding soundtrack. Universal Records re-signed Blue October and released the band’s fourth album Foiled in 2006. The album was Blue October’s first to break into the Billboard 200.

Platinum album Foiled introduced Blue October to the national market with chart-topping hits “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean”. After an extensive tour, the expectations were high for 2009 album Approaching Normal. Debut single “Dirt Room” made a huge impact on the radio and internet, setting up Blue October for a 2009 tour.
