The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to prove themselves as the pride of Dixie by winning 12 NCAA Football titles, appearing in over 50 Bowl championships and winning four of those Bowls consecutively. While the Crimson Tide’s SEC ranking slipped in 2007, Alabama rolled the tide to victory throughout the season in many of Crimson Tide’s athletics. The Women’s gymnastics and baseball teams have won several of their own NCAA titles.
Crimson Tide Football, led by Coach Nick Saban, held a 7-6 regular season record and a 4-4 SEC record. Many key players from last season will return with a renewed ferociousness like QB John Parker Wilson, Special Teams Co-Player of the Year Award winner Javier Arenas and Kicker Leigh Tiffin who made 25 of 34 field goals and 36 of 36 on extra points last season. Support the Crimson and White Football team as they wipe out their opponents at home at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball achieved a 17-16 regular season record. Coach Mark Gottfried is changing up the team after last season’s missteps. In the 2008-09 NCAA season, Gottfried will rely on the talent of returning players as many of his star players take a chance in the NBA Draft. Alabama’s key returning player is Alonzo Gee. Last season, Gee averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The Tide Basketball team makes their home Coleman Coliseum.
