The Boise State Broncos boast winning programs in varsity sports including football, gymnastics, volleyball, wrestling, men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, tennis, and golf. The Boise State Broncos make their home at Broncos Stadium, known for its famed blue “Smurf Turf.” Led by RB Ian Johnson, the Boise State Broncos are coming off of a 10-3 record and a tough loss in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. The Broncos will enter the 2008 season looking to reclaim their position atop the WAC, a position that they held since 2001 but lost to Hawaii in 2007. Since 2006 the Broncos have gone 23-3 under head coach Chris Petersen and are poised to continue their superiority.
After years of relative obscurity, the Boise State Broncos burst onto the scene in the 2007-08 season. Going 25-9 en route to the Bronco’s first WAC tournament title, Boise State also made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 1994. Head coach Greg Graham will have his work cut out for him as four of his five starters will not return. Look for PG Anthony Thomas to step up and lead the Broncos’ charge to a conference crown.
