As one of the oldest team in MLS, the Kansas City Wizards have a long tradition in U.S. soccer. MLS Cup winners in 2000, the Wizards are a team that has been improving constantly. Now in their 13th season in the league, the Kansas City Wizards have been characterized by their attacking mentality, leading the league in shots attempted last season by a wide margin.
Kansas City Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad is the leader of the team. In his sixth season with the Wiz, Conrad has been captain since the 2007 season and has been a mentor of rookie players such as fellow defender and first pick overall in the 2008 SuperDraft, Chance Myers. After signing a contract extension, Jimmy Conrad expects Myers to be his defensive partner for years to come.
