From the beautiful and historic campus at Huntington, West Virginia comes the Marshall University Thundering Herd. The stacked Marshall Thundering Herd athletic program is made up of 15 varsity teams including football, basketball, baseball, softball, swimming, tennis, golf, women’s basketball, and many more. Of these programs, the long and storied Marshall Thundering Herd football and basketball teams have the most history and prestige.
In the past 12 years, the Marshall Thundering Herd football team has had two undefeated seasons, won five Bowl Games, and captured the I-AA National Championship. After dominating Conference USA for several years, the Marshall Thundering Herd fell on hard times. Head coach Mark Snyder brings his impressive defensive mind to the table and will have an incredibly young team to coach up. The youth has been recruited and raised in Snyder’s system and great results are just around the corner for Herd football. Joan C. The Marshall Thundering Herd basketball team is also making strides. Head coach Donnie Jones begins his second year as head coach and has already brought the Herd the winning ways of his former school, the Florida Gators. With many new players entering the lineup and a host of returning starters all healthy, the Conference USA Championship is easily in reach of the Marshall Thundering Herd. The resurgent Marshall Thundering Herd is sure to fill the Cam Henderson Center with screaming fans for every home game.
