Real Salt Lake was founded in 2004 and is a brand new team on its way to making history in the MLS. Located in one of the biggest soccer cities in the nation and averaging 16,000 fans at every home game, Real Salt Lake decided to build their own soccer stadium. A modern-art architectural beauty, the new Real Salt Lake Stadium will be inaugurated at the end of 2008 and boasts a 22,168 fan capacity. The stadium is a modern-art architectural beauty.
Real Salt Lake acquired new faces for the 2008 season. Head coach Jason Kries realized he needed new players who could help him turn around Real’s performance. Kries’ wishes came true, and Real Salt Lake hired three Argentine players who have played in their domestic league for the past few years. Knowing that the Argentine soccer league is one of the best in the world, Real Salt Lake poses a serious threat in the Western Conference.
After the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, the Real Salt Lake were satisfied with their picks. As a third overall pick, Tony Beltran will give Real Salt Lake the stability they need in the mid-field. At his young age, Beltran is a very mature player but needs Kries’ guidance to make himself one of the best players on the Real Salt Lake squad and in the MLS at large.
