When the Metro Conference merged with the Great Midwest conference in 1995 to develop a 12-team conference that sponsored NCAA football, Conference USA was born. Like many major conferences, C-USA suffered when three teams left the Big East for the ACC and five C-USA members left for the Big East. Despite this major blow Conference USA accepted six teams from other conferences and C-USA East fans have not looked back.
