Seemingly coming out of nowhere to platinum success, Maroon 5 has been able to crossover to various generations and musical tastes due to a universally appreciable sound. Maroon 5’s mix of soulful melodies and funk-style instrumentals has certainly been an unorthodox formula for fame and fortune. Once just an unknown band, Maroon 5 has exploded as the soft hit makers of the 21st century.
After spending their first few years together as a Grunge band called Kara’s Flowers, Maroon 5 shifted its sound to a more pop feel and changed its name. By the time Maroon 5 entered the studio in 2002, lead singer Adam Levine had a catalogue of smooth and heartfelt songs thanks to a recent breakup. The album named after Levine’s ex Songs About Jane would go on to be one of the biggest hit records of this century. Single “Harder to Breathe” originally did not chart well but eventually crawled its way to the Top 20.
Songs About Jane and Maroon 5 really took off with the single “This Love” – a funky pop song that was soon playing heavily on both mainstream and soft rock radio and soon made Maroon 5 a household name. With its sad and dreary love song lyrics, the crossover hit “She Will Be Loved” became a favorite of soft radio and TV soundtracks fitting many scenes and broken hearts. After a marathon world tour spanning several years, Songs About Jane went four-times platinum in the US and sold several million more overseas.
Maroon 5 took some time off before releasing the album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long in 2007 to instant success. With the album going platinum already and No.1 single “Makes Me Wonder” Maroon 5 is again on tour and sharing the stage with Counting Crows. As the pop-rock superbands of the 1990s and 2000s put on a clinic for hit music, don’t miss your chance to own Maroon 5 tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
