Starting off as a band of “brothers” making appearances at local L.A. clubs and venues, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released their debut album in 1984, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, which featured the song “Get Up and Jump.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their next album Freaky Styley the following year. Freaky Styley incorporated elements of punk and funk metal heard in the tracks “Jungle Man” and “American Ghost Dance.”

In 1987, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released their next album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, the first of the Red Hot Chili Peppers albums to make a chart appearance. An Uplift tour soon followed and songs “Me and My Friends” and “Behind the Sun” ripped the radio airwaves. After undergoing band realignment, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released their fourth studio album Mother’s Milk which covered the songs “Fire” and “Higher Ground” helping Mother’s Milk quickly reach gold.

In 1991, the Red Hot Chili Peppers released singles “Give It Away” and “Under the Bridge” off their album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which went on to sell over seven million copies worldwide. The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ next studio album One Hot Minute spawned the band’s first No. 1 hit “My Friends” and featured guitarist Dave Navarro. One Hot Minute also housed the charted tracks “Warped” and “Aeroplane.”

Californication was the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ most successful album featuring the hits “Scar Tissue,” “Otherside,” and “Californication.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ next two albums, By the Way and Stadium Arcadium, spawned the songs “Fortune Faded” and “Dani California,” respectively.
