Lollapalooza was originally founded by Jane’s Addiction lead singer Perry Farrell to bring back the 1960s era music festivals. Lollapalooza featured not only bands from Rock and Alternative but also incorporated every musical genre imaginable. In keeping with the old-school feel Lollapalooza also brought in art exhibits and tents where fans could get politically aware literature. In this light Lollapalooza became a cultural event.
After disappearing from the scene for a few years, Perry Farrell decided to bring back Lollapalooza. To keep himself from being limited by a traveling festival, Perry Farrell turned Lollapalooza into a three-day event held in Chicago, Illinois. Free of any constraints by formal venues, Lollapalooza has been able to make its own rules. Built from scratch to be a festival for fans and artists, Lollapalooza is a truly unique music and art festival.

Other artists included Flogging Molly, Lupe Fiasco, Blues Traveler, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Brand New, and Dierks Bentley to name just a few.
