Alejandro Fernandez was born on April 24, 1971, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. With the encouragement of his father, famous Ranchera singer Vicente Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez pursued a singing career, releasing his first self-titled album in 1992. Following in his father’s footsteps, the album was a mix of Ranchera and bolero-style music. Alejandro Fernandez performs a duet with his father on the song “Que Pregunta Muchacho.”
In 1993, Alejandro Fernandez released Piel De Niña and scored two Top 10 Latin hits with the self-titled single and “Acabe Por Llorar.” In 1995, Alejandro Fernandez released his fourth album Que Seas Muy Feliz, which featured the successful single, “Como Quien Pierde Una Estrella.” Alejandro Fernandez collaborated with Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan Jr. on his sixth album Me Estoy Enamorando in 1997. The album had a string of No. 1 singles including “En El Jardín” and “Si Tú Supieras.”
In 2000, Alejandro Fernandez released Entre Tus Brazos, yet another collaboration with Emilio Estefan, Jr. The album broke into the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 1 on the Latin Album and Latin Pop charts simultaneously. Alejandro returned with Orígenes in 2001. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Latin Album chart and spawned a No. 1 hit with the song “Tantita Pena.” In 2003, Alejandro Fernandez released En Vivo: Juntos Por Ultima Vez, a live album documenting a concert tour with his father Vicente Fernandez.
Alejandro Fernandez returned in 2004 with the pop-infused Ranchera album A Corazon Abierto. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Latin Pop Chart and scored a No. 1 single with “Me Dediqué a Perderte.” Alejandro Fernandez’s latest album Viento A Favor features a duet with Beyonce on the song “Amor Gitano” (Gypsy Love).
