Alejandro Fernandez was born on April 24, 1971, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. With the encouragement of his father, famous Ranchera singer Vicente Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez pursued a singing career, releasing his first self-titled album in 1992. Following in his father’s footsteps, the album was a mix of Ranchera and bolero-style music. Alejandro Fernandez performs a duet with his father on the song “Que Pregunta Muchacho.”

Alejandro returned with Orígenes in 2001. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Latin Album chart and spawned a No. 1 hit with the song “Tantita Pena.” In 2003, Alejandro Fernandez released En Vivo: Juntos Por Ultima Vez, a live album documenting a concert tour with his father Vicente Fernandez.

Alejandro Fernandez returned in 2004 with the pop-infused Ranchera album A Corazon Abierto. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Latin Pop Chart and scored a No. 1 single with “Me Dediqué a Perderte.” Alejandro Fernandez’s latest album Viento A Favor features a duet with Beyonce on the song “Amor Gitano” (Gypsy Love).
