Mexican singer Ana Gabriel was born María Guadalupe Araújo Young in Mexico on December 10, 1955, to a Mexican father and Japanese mother. Ana Gabriel received her first taste of show business at six years old when she performed the José Alfredo Jiménez song “Regalo A Dios” for a public audience. Ana Gabriel cut her first single “Comprendeme" in 1977, but it would take an additional eight years until she would obtain a recording contract.
As a singer, Ana Gabriel competed in various festivals including Valores Juveniles, where she won second place for her song “No Me Lastimes Mas.” In 1985, Ana Gabriel released her debut album Un Estilo. Ana Gabriel returned in 1986 with Sagitario and performed at the OTI Festival where she represented her home country, Mexico. Ana Gabriel’s fourth album Tierra De Nadie is considered to be her breakthrough, scoring her first No. 1 single “Simplemente Amigos."
Ana Gabriel’s 1989 album Pecado Original produced Ana Gabriel’s second No. 1 single “Ay Amor” and the moderately successful title track. In 1990, Ana Gabriel’s fifth album was equally successful giving the Mexican songstress three Top 15 singles including the No. 1 hit “Quien Como Tu.” Ana Gabriel released her 10th album Ayer y Hoy (Yesterday and Today) in 1994, peaking at No. 6 and yielding the No. 1 single “Luna.”
In 2005, Ana Gabriel released Historia De Una Reina, which topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Ana Gabriel released her 23rd and latest album Arpegios De Amor in 2007.
