Known for the hit singles “Rock Lobster,” “Love Shack,” and “Roam,” the B-52s are still going strong after more than 30 years together. These New Wave legends released their eighth album Funplex in 2008, with a concert tour to follow.
Singers Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider and guitarist Keith Strickland have survived as long as they have by keeping their music innovative and often working with samples, electronic guitars and drums. Order your B-52s concert tickets from OnlineTickets.com!

The B-52s were formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976 by singers Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, her brother and guitarist Ricky Wilson and drummer Keith Strickland. The B-52s were known for their distinct new wave sound, which was a mix of dance and surf music, as well as their flamboyant appearances. The women, Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, often performed wearing bouffant wigs in the 1980s.
The B-52s released their 1979 self-titled debut album featuring the single “Rock Lobster” and “Planet Claire.” The album charted in the top half of the Billboard 200, eventually selling over 1 million copies. The B-52s released their second album Wild Planet, which peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the hit single “Private Idaho” that lead to the B-52s’ first television performance on Saturday Night Live.
The B-52s released Whammy! in 1983, producing the single “Legal Tender,” which peaked at No. 9 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart. During the recording of the B-52s’ 1986 album Bouncing Off the Satellites, guitarist Ricky Wilson died unexpectedly. The B-52s went on hiatus until the release of 1989’s Cosmic Thing. Drummer Keith Strickland took over guitar duties. Cosmic Thing propelled the B-52s into mainstream success with a string of hit singles “Channel Z,” “Love Shack” and “Roam.”
In 1992, The B-52s released Good Stuff without singer Cindy Wilson; the album peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nod in 1993. Cindy Wilson eventually rejoined the B-52s and in 2008, the band released its eighth album Funplex. Fans of the B-52s can catch the band live on tour in support of Funplex.
