Using a unique combination of vocal melodies and symbolic lyrics, Crosby, Stills & Nash emerged in the 1960s – a decade known for folk and vocal group bands. Crosby, Stills & Nash was a unification of David Crosby of the Byrds, Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash of the Hollies, with each member giving their surname to the band so that it could not continue if one of them left the band.
With their own rules established, Crosby, Stills & Nash released their first album Crosby, Stills & Nash, which produced two Top 40 singles: “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Marrakesh Express,” along with the anti-Cold War anthem “Wooden Ships.” Joined by Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash would make a number one album Déjà Vu and appear at Woodstock. Crosby, Stills, & Nash along with Young also recorded the landmark song “Ohio” which would make them icons and legends to the counterculture.
After many years of success, Neil Young left Crosby, Stills & Nash and the reunited trio released CSN in 1977, followed by Daylight Again, which featured hits “Wasted on the Way” and “Southern Cross.” The politically hazardous times of the 21st century brought a demand for the band and its anti-war lyrics, leading Crosby, Stills & Nash to tour with Neil Young in 2006.
