Hailing from Washington, indie rock group Death Cab For Cutie was founded after lead singer Ben Gibbard released a demo entitled You Can Play These Songs with Chords. The demo proved so successful that Ben Gibbard decided to hire on a few other members including indie music mogul Chris Walla to complete the project that is known as Death Cab for Cutie.

Death Cab for Cutie would go on to release several more albums all to high praise from the underground. Death Cab for Cutie would not gain mainstream success until the release of Transatlanticism, which spawned singles that went on to be featured on several television shows and motion picture soundtracks – most notably Six Feet Under and The OC. Popular tracks from Transatlanticism include “Title and Registration,” “Expo ’86,” “The New Year,” and “The Sound of Settling.”

Having attracted the attention of more mainstream audiences, Death Cab for Cutie released Plans which featured “Soul Meets Body” and “Crooked Teeth.” Plans rose quickly on the Billboard charts, went platinum, and earned Death Cab for Cutie a Grammy nomination for “Best Alternative Album.” Death Cab for Cutie most recent album is Narrow Stairs featuring the single “I Will Possess Your Heart.”
