In the late 1970s guitarist George Lynch, drummer Mick Brown, vocalist Don Dokken and temporary bassist Jim Monanteras united to form Dokken. A traditional style and musical expertise would set Dokken apart from glam metal bands like Poison. Though Dokken was popular in Europe it wasn’t until their 1984 release Tooth and Nail that Dokken gained popularity in the US. Following the success of Tooth and Nail Dokken toured with bands including Aerosmith, Judas Priest and Twisted Sister.
After a hiatus, Dokken reunited in 1993. Despite the decline in popularity of similar bands during that time, Dokken managed to sell over 600,000 copies of their 1995 release Dysfunctional. The Dokken lineup suffered from a period of instability during this time, but Dokken is touring during summer 2008 including stops at big music festivals such as Rocklahoma and the four-day rock festival Rock the Bayou in Houston, Texas.
The current lineup of Dokken features founder and vocalist Don Dokken, guitarist Jon Levin, bassist Barry Sparks and drummer Mick Brown. Dokken returned to their 1980s roots with the 2008 release Lightning Strikes Again which also returned Dokken to the Billboard Charts. Lightning Strikes Again was Dokken’s highest charting release since 1995. Dokken’s 2008 tour features bassist Chris McCarvill and drummer Jeff Martin.
Old classics and new hits that pay homage to the halcyon days of heavy metal set Dokken apart from the rest. With a new release Dokken is touring to prove that it is still all about the music. True music fans will enjoy a nostalgic show when Dokken comes to arenas nationwide. Order Dokken concert tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
