What started out as a one-man studio project – spearheaded by founder/frontman Dave Grohl – morphed into a full band known as the Foo Fighters in 1995. Looking for a way to record his own music outside of Nirvana, Dave Grohl had found the perfect avenue in Foo Fighters, as the band released its first full album, the self-titled Foo Fighters along with a tour to support it. Foo Fighters became one of the first giants in the Post-Grunge genre of Alternative Rock that would provide the backbone of rock for the ‘90s.
The Foo Fighters’ debut single “This is a Call” helped carry the Foo Fighters to mainstream success and reached number two on the Alternative charts. The Foo Fighters’ second album The Colour and the Shape was the band’s best selling record in the United States. The album had one of the band’s most endearing and long-lasting hits “My Hero,” which still enjoys a good deal of airplay on radio and as a soundtrack for TV and movies.
The Foo Fighters’ third studio album There is Nothing Left to Lose was released in 1999 and spawned one of the most popular songs of the ‘90s and the Foo Fighters’ first number-one single on the Modern Rock Chart “Learn to Fly.” The Foo Fighters won a Grammy for Best Rock Album for their 2002 follow-up album One by One which featured the hit “Times Like These.” The album In Your Honor followed in 2005, which garnered five Grammy nominations.
The Foo Fighters’ latest release Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace won the band a Grammy for Best Rock Album and for the smash single “The Pretender.” Currently on tour, the Foo Fighters are bringing their energetic live show to cities nationwide.
