George Michael was looking to draw in an older audience than he did in his teen pop years.

Embarking on a solo project, George Michael wrote his first album which was the landmark and career-making Faith, featuring the adult-themed single “I Want Your Sex” – a World No. 1 hit despite constant censorship and controversy. George Michael’s signature song “Faith” reached No.1 in the US and took George Michael to superstardom. “Father Figure,” “One More Try,” and “Monkey” were all No. 1 hits as well.

George Michael followed up the Grammy winning, certified diamond album Faith with Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, which featured the No. 1 hit single “Praying for Time.” A conflict with his record label blocked George Michael from releasing another studio album until 1994’s worldwide hit Older which featured two hits in “Jesus to a Child” and “Fastlove.”
