With five albums out since debuting in 2001, Hawaii-native Jack Johnson is quickly becoming a household name. Jack Johnson, born to legendary surfer Jeff Johnson, grew up surfing until a devastating injury ended his surfing career and sparked Jack Johnson’s interest in music. Citing Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young as major influences, Jack Johnson wrote numerous songs while recovering from his surfing accident.
During his stint at college, Jack Johnson played rhythm guitar for a party band called Soil. Jack Johnson attracted a following after handing out “bootleg” recordings of himself at surf competitions.
