The Mexican rock group Jaguares formed in Mexico City by ex-Caifanes lead singer Saúl Hernández and ex-Caifanes drummer Alfonso André in 1995. The duo was joined by bassist Federico Fong and guitarist José Manuel Aguilera on Jaguares first album El Equilibrio de los Jaguares, which was released in 1996. The album also featured guest appearances by “Fifth Beatle” Billy Preston and Tejano singer Flaco Jiménez.
Jaguares returned in 1999 with the double album Bajo el Azul de Tu Misterio. This time lead singer Saúl Hernández and drummer Alfonso André were joined in the recording studio and subsequent tour by ex-Caifanes bassist Sabo Romo, guitarist Cesar López and keyboardist Jarris Margalli. In 2001, Jaguares released their first No. 1 Latin album Cuando La Sangre Galopa; it was also Jaguares first album to chart on the Billboard 200.
Jaguares’ fourth album, 2002’s El Primer Instinto was as successful as its predecessor, reaching No. 2 on the Latin Albums chart and breaking into the top half of the Billboard 200. El Primer Instinto featured notable guest appearances including David Hidalgo of the California group Los Lobos, as well as rearranged songs from lead singer Saúl Hernández’s former group Caifanes. Jaguares opened for Indie rock legend Morrissey on his 2002 tour.
In 2005, Jaguares released their fifth album Cronicas De Un Laberinto. The album saw the return of bassist Federico Fong. The album entered the Top 20 of the Heatseekers chart as well as the Latin album chart. In 2008, Jaguares will release their sixth album 45, featuring the lead single “Entre Tus Jardines.” Do not miss out on this exciting Mexican rock band when you order Jaguares concert tickets from OnlineTickets.com!
