Born as Robert Ritchie, Kid Rock was one of the major players in the Rap/Rock movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s. A remix album of Kid Rock’s early work The History of Rock was released in 2000, featuring the hit song “American Badass.” In 2001, Kid Rock released Cocky, which was powered by singles “The Lonely Road of Faith” and “Picture” – a duet with Sheryl Crow that allowed Kid Rock to transition to a much broader audience. Capitalizing on this, Kid Rock moved more into a pure Country/Southern Rock direction with Kid Rock, featuring singles “Feel Like Making Love” and “Single Father.”

Kid Rock had his first No. 1 album with Rock N Roll Jesus. Much of this was thanks to singles “So Hott,” “Amen,” and “All Summer Long.” The 2008 Kid Rock tour was a smash success and showed that Kid Rock and his new Southern flavor would go further than the stale Rap-Metal genre.
