Forming in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2000, Indie-Rock band Kings of Leon consists of Brothers Caleb (vocals and guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared Followill (bass) along with cousin Matthew Followill (guitar). The members named the band after their father and grandfather, both of whom shared the first name “Leon.” In 2003, Kings of Leon released the Holy Roller Novocaine EP on RCA records. The EP contained many songs that would make it onto Kings of Leon’s first full-length album Youth and Young Manhood.

Youth and Young Manhood produced the singles “Wasted Time,” “California Waiting” and the smash hit “Molly’s Chambers.” The album eventually topped the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in 2003. Kings of Leon drew many comparisons to the "the bands" including The Strokes. Kings of Leon worked hard to dispel the comparisons by combining its Alternative-Rock styling with more Southern Rock and Blues flavoring.

Kings of Leon followed its debut with the critically acclaimed Aha Shake Heartbreak in 2004. The album boosted Kings of Leon’s popularity and sales of tickets due to the lead single “The Bucket.” In 2007, Kings of Leon returned with its third album Because of the Times, featuring the songs “On Call” and “Fans.” The album ended comparisons to The Strokes and became the group’s first No. 1 in the UK.

In 2008, Kings of Leon released its fourth album Only By the Night. The album boasts a harder Rock sound and contains singles “Sex on Fire,” “Use Somebody,” and “Revelry” along with notable tracks “Crawl” and "Manhattan."
