Donning the leather, spikes, platform shoes, and black and white face paint, the foursome known as KISS have completely dominated the live-performance arena, providing audiences with a hotter-than-hell pyrotechnic performance since the 1970s! Catch front man and bassist Gene Simmons spitting blood and breathing fire into an audience filled with avid, face-painted followers.
The masked members of KISS – Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss – released their eponymous debut album in 1974, and continued to build on a sound that combined anthemic hard rock with pop metal. KISS continued to tour, building up a substantial fan following. The 1975 album Alive! propelled KISS into rock’n’roll superstardom on the strength of the smash hit “Rock’n’Roll All Night.” The follow-up album Destroyer was the band’s first platinum hit, which featured the Top 10 single “Beth” and “Detroit Rock City.”
In 1983, KISS received a surge of renewed interest after the release of Lick it Up. This time KISS trashed the face paint and relied solely on their music to earn them their first gold record in four years. After releasing Animalize, KISS would undergo a carousel of personnel changes, with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons remaining as the only two original performers of KISS.
KISS’ success as performers is highlighted by their high-energy rock shows and heart-pounding brand of rock. In January 2008 Paul Stanley announced the KISS Alive/35 World Tour will be featured in arenas in New Zealand, Europe and Australia, so don’t miss KISS performing live when you order your KISS tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
