The most underrated songwriter ever! The man still brings down the house. Young kids need to go see Cohen and learn what real lyrics are like.

After starting a successful literary and poetry career at age 22, Leonard Cohen set out to be a singer/songwriter in the folk genre popular in the 1960s. Singing about love, sex, and the effects of various religions on society and humanity, Leonard Cohen’s reflective lyrics and distinct baritone voice have become a trademark of his career and have solidified his place in rock’n’roll history.

Leonard Cohen’s first album was the dark classic Song of Leonard Cohen, which lead to Songs from a Room with the oft-covered “Birds on a Wire.” Producing three more albums in the early ‘70s, Leonard Cohen worked with infamous producer Phil Spector on the album Death of a Ladies’ Man in 1977. Leonard Cohen closed the 1970s with a more traditional offering in Recent Songs.

In 1984 Leonard Cohen released Various Positions powered by one of his most covered songs “Hallelujah.” The next album I’m Your Man was a departure from Leonard Cohen’s traditional sound and led to two hit singles “I’m Your Man” and “First We Take Manhattan.” The 1992 album The Future lent its songs and dark tone to the film “Natural Born Killers.” The Future would be Leonard Cohen’s last album before entering years in seclusion as a Buddhist monk.

Leonard Cohen returned to the studio in 2001 with the comeback album Ten New Songs, featuring the deep and painful song “Alexandra Leaving.” In 2008, Leonard Cohen embarks on his first tour in 15 years.
