Born Lionel Brockman Richie, Jr. in Tuskegee, Alabama, Lionel Richie is an Academy Award and Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and record producer who has sold over 100 million albums. Lionel Richie has experienced both group and solo success starting with his time in the ‘60s R&B group The Commodores. After no commercial success in the US, Lionel Richie released Renaissance in 2000 which was a big success in Europe. In 2002 Lionel Richie released the live album Encore which was followed by his 2004 release of Just For You.

In 2006 Lionel Richie released his eighth studio album entitled Coming Home which peaked at No. 6 on the charts and featured the hit single “I Call It Love” which starred Lionel Richie’s daughter Nicole Richie.
