After the release of Street Survivors, tragedy struck Lynyrd Skynyrd – three band members were killed in a plane crash, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant. The crash would place Lynyrd Skynyrd on the shelf for a decade.

In 1987, Lynyrd Skynyrd reunited with Johnny Van Zant taking over for his late brother.
