Born in the small town of Lindale, Texas, on November 10, 1983, Miranda Lambert discovered her love of country music at 9 years old after attending a Garth Brooks concert with her parents. Miranda Lambert’s biggest influence was her father, a retired cop, who wrote and performed his own country songs. Miranda Lambert’s father taught her to play guitar while she was in her teens so that she could begin to write her own songs.
Miranda Lambert’s first taste of fame came at age 16 when she appeared on Johnnie High's Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas. The show was notable for launching country acts, including LeAnn Rimes. Before graduating from high school, Miranda Lambert fronted the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom’s house band in Longview, Texas. However, Miranda Lambert’s big break would come in the form of a reality television show.
In 2003, Miranda Lambert auditioned and received a spot on USA’s Nashville Star after auditioning in Houston, Texas. Despite a third-place finish, Miranda Lambert landed a record deal with Sony Nashville. In 2005, Miranda Lambert released her first album Kerosene, which peaked at No. 1 on the Country charts and featured the singles “Kerosene,” “Me and Charlie Talking” and “Bring Me Down.”
Miranda Lambert’s second album Crazy Ex-Girlfriend peaked at No. 1 on the Country charts and at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in 2007. The album spawned Miranda Lambert’s first Top 10 hit single “Gunpowder & Lead” and won Album of the Year at the 2008 Academy of Country Music awards.
