Before N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block ruled the radio airwaves and captured the hearts of millions of teenage girls throughout the ‘80s. With their sexy dance moves, bubblegum pop lyrics, charm and good looks, New Kids on the Block became a household name and made brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood, and Donnie Wahlberg the biggest sensations in the pop world at the time.
The New Kids on the Block’s first big hit was called “Please Don’t Go Girl” off their Hangin’ Tough album, featuring singles “Cover Girl” and “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind)” which helped NKOTB climb to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Album Charts. The New Kids on the Block became the first teen group to have five Top 10 hit singles from an album.
After New Kids on the Block’s initial success with Hangin’ Tough, New Kids on the Block released Step by Step and Face the Music which spawned popular singles such as “Dirty Dawg” and “If You Go Away.” Soon after, New Kids on the Block faded from the spotlight but kept stepping into the public eye after New Kids on the Block members such as Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre indulged in solo careers.
In 2008, New Kids on the Block announced a reunion tour complete with a new album Summertime, written mainly by New Kids on the Block veterans Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight and Donnie Wahlberg.
