Poison

Details

Coming from the LA Scene of the 1980s Glam Metal era, Poison gained a reputation for party tunes and an overly Glam image. Poison embraced the Glam look so tightly that many who saw the cover of Poison’s Look What the Cat Dragged In album thought that the band was an all-female group. Unlike most in the Hair Metal scene, Poison weathered the Grunge storm and managed to stay successful. Much of this is due to Poison’s charismatic frontman Bret Michaels.

While Look What the Cat Dragged In originally failed to chart, singles “Talk Dirty to Me” and “I Won’t Forget You” pushed the album to double platinum status. With the follow up Open Up and Say…Ahh! Poison used the selling power of the power ballad to reach eight times platinum with “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Poison grew in popularity even more with a big tour and single “Nothin’ But a Good Time” which continued the band’s party-tune trend.

Poison’s next album Flesh & Blood spawned another signature single in “Unskinny Bop” and the requisite power ballad “Something to Believe In.” With records flying off the shelves and a packed touring schedule lined up, Poison was going strong despite the arrival of Alternative Rock and Grunge pushing Poison and its fellow Glam rockers out of the mainstream.

In the 21st century, Poison began a career resurgence. C.C. DeVille rejoined the band in 1999 and the original magic was back. Attention to Bret Michaels’ reality series “Rock of Love” has also garnered new interest in Poison. As Poison heads back on tour in 2008, join an army of old fans and a growing young fan base when you order Poison tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
