The Four Tops Tickets

Four high school students joined together to make their musical dreams come true. Levi Stubbs, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton joined to form The Four Aims; in 1956 the group signed to Chess Records and changed its name to the Four Tops. Touring allowed the Four Tops to hone their stage act while extending its fan base.

Mainstream success eluded the Four Tops until Berry Gordy signed the Four Tops to his upstart label Motown. In 1964, the Four Tops released the single “Baby I Need Your Loving” to much success and the Four Tops’ popularity began to blossom and snowball. The relationship between the Four Tops and Motown proved to be a successful one. The Four Tops produced one of the most popular Motown songs of all time “Reach Out and I’ll Be There” which became the group’s signature song.

Since the late 1980s the Four Tops have gotten away from recording but continue to tour and bring in new fans. Television appearances and work in film kept the Four Tops relevant throughout this period. In 1990 the Four Tops were honored with an induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, and the Four Tops were named one of Rolling Stones’ 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The 1990s saw many roster changes for the Four Tops. The current lineup consists of Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNair and Roquel Payton, the son of original member Lawrence Payton.
