Every year since 1954 ACC basketball teams have met at the end of the season to play a single-elimination tournament. The winner of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament gets an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament so the stakes are high and bragging rights are on the line.
The UNC Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils have dominated ACC basketball. Since the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament began, there have been very few years that both Duke and UNC have been absent from the final.
