From humble beginnings at the 1937 Texas State Fair to drawing crowds of over 70,000, the Cotton Bowl is one of the most time-honored non-BCS college bowl games in the nation. In the past, the Cotton Bowl has featured Mississippi Rebels QB Eli Manning now of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, Oklahoma S Roy Williams now of the Dallas Cowboys, and Alabama LB DeMeco Ryans who now plays for the Houston Texans.
With star players and big-name teams, the Cotton Bowl is a staple of the college Bowl Game series. The 2008 Cotton Bowl featured two Heisman Trophy candidates. Arkansas RB Darren McFadden and Missouri QB Chase Daniel led their teams into battle. Chas Daniel’s Missouri Tigers came out on top, defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 38-7. Missouri’s RB Tony Temple set a new record for Cotton Bowl rushing yards and shared MVP honors with teammate SS William Moore.
