Miami is bustling with news of the rebirth of the Florida International athletic programs. With 16 teams competing in 13 varsity sports, the Florida International Panthers offer something for every sports fan. Golden Panthers football and basketball are ready rise to the top with plays on the gridiron and hardwood that are sure to ignite their fans!
The relatively new football program suffered through a tough, injury-laden 2007 campaign where they went a dismal 1-11. Head coach Mario Cristobal has high expectations for his vastly improved team in 2008. Building around the solid play of QB Wayne Younger and a good incoming class, the talented Golden Panthers are ready to rock FIU Stadium with their talent and youthful enthusiasm!
On the hardwood, Sergio Rouco is preparing to coach his Golden Panthers to their best season yet. In the 2007-08 campaign, the Golden Panthers played to a disappointing 9-20 record, earning fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference.
