Cardinals Football, led by Coach Steve Kragthorpe, maintained a 6-6 regular season record. With the Cards suffering from loss of players due to either graduation or injury, Louisville moved Jeff Brohm off of QB coach to the position of Cards’ offensive coordinator and Ron English, who previously worked at Michigan, will take over as defensive coordinator. New QB Hunter Cantwell’s strong arm and running game will position the team for passing opportunities. U of L Football makes its home at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Under Coach Rick Pitino, the Louisville Cardinals held an impressive 27-9 regular season record and a 14-4 record, which tied Louisville for second place in the Big East Conference with Notre Dame. The Cards broke through the ranks and dominated the NCAA tournament but were eliminated in the Elite Eight by the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. Key players in 2008 will be forward Earl Clark and David Padgett. The Cards have made their nest at Freedom Hall.
