After a rocky 2007-08 NCAA season, the University of Maryland Terrapins are poised for a comeback in 2008. Maryland also boasts more than 700 U of M students competing in 27 Division I-A sports, including men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, cross country, and track and field. Maryland has housed 39 national championship teams and bred 25 Olympians.
University of Maryland Terrapins Football has a rich history and includes famed alumni like Boomer Esiason. In 2008, Terps Head Coach Ralph Friedgen ceded control of the offense to offensive coordinator James Franklin after UM earned a 3-5 regular season record. Maryland defensive coordinator, Chris Cosh, will switch the Terrapins’ defensive style allowing the Terps to utilize multiple defensive fronts.
