The potential of the New Orleans Saints in 2008 was extraordinary, especially on the offensive side of the ball. A rash of injuries struck the team however, with the loss of superstar RB Reggie Bush being the biggest of them all. Even with this comedy of errors and a string of bad mojo, the New Orleans Saints offense set records and managed to go 8-8 in a tough NFC South division. With their roster back healthy and the best defense in years ready to help the offense, New Orleans will certainly not field any ‘Aints in 2009.
QB Drew Brees nearly broke Dan Marino’s passing record in 2008 and barely missed being NFL MVP as well. In 2009, Drew Brees will have another great chance to challenge for the record thanks to the healthy return of TE Jeremy Shockey and WR Marquis Colston. RB Reggie Bush is also healthy and his presence opens up the entire offense, with partner Pierre Thomas pounding the middle. The defense of the New Orleans Saints is greatly improved thanks to rookie CB Malcolm Jenkins joining stars like DT Sedrick Ellis, LB Jonathan Vilma, and a bookend pair of DEs.
The offensive genius of head coach Sean Payton will put fear into the hearts of all the NFC South’s defensive coordinators. The New Orleans Saints play in a tough NFC South Division that features the up-and-coming Atlanta Falcons, the stingy Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the excellent Carolina Panthers. The New Orleans Saints will also face the elite NFC East, which includes teams like the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
Over the past few years, the Louisiana Superdome has become an American landmark and plays home to the Saints. The Superdome boasts the best atmosphere in the NFL and is always filled to the rafters with the good ol’ black-n-gold. Don’t miss an offensive explosion inside the Superdome or catch it on the road when you order your New Orleans Saints tickets from OnlineTickets.com!
