After a blazing start in 2008, the Washington Redskins limped to a 8-8 finish. With a maturing receiving corps gelling and the thundering legs of RB Clinton Portis already carrying the offense, the Washington Redskins hope new defender Albert Haynesworth can add the balance needed to challenge the NFC East.

Had they been in a lesser division and not in the powerful NFC East, the Washington Redskins would certainly have finished the 2008 NFL season with a better record than 8-8. Though they fell short of the playoffs, new head coach Jim Zorn certainly laid a good foundation to build upon. With a year under their belts in the system, the Washington Redskins have the makings of a dark horse contender for the NFC East Championship and even the Super Bowl.
Running back Clinton Portis is the franchise and flourished under Jim Zorn’s new offense. As Clinton Portis spearheads the run game, the West Coast passing attack will develop as well, thanks to second-year WRs Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly building chemistry with veterans like Chris Cooley and Santana Moss. Defensively, the Washington Redskins made the biggest move of the off-season by signing defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Athletic freaks safety LaRon Landry and rookie DE/OLB Brian Orakpo are potential Pro-Bowlers for years to come.
The Washington Redskins compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NFC – the NFC East. The classic rivalry between the Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys will be played out twice. In addition, the ‘Skins will take on the Super Bowl champion New York Giants and the talented Philadelphia Eagles, while venturing outside the division to play the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers.
The beautiful state-of-the-art FedExField serves as the home turf for the Washington Redskins. Located in Landover, Maryland, FedExField is always packed to the gills with up to 90,000 screaming fans at a time.
