The WNBA was barely out of its infancy when it granted the city of Detroit a team to join the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills. No sports critic, fan or pundit expects an expansion team to perform well but at the end of the 1998 season, the Detroit Shock left WNBA fans bewildered.
