The pair is determined to be together until Drama Club President Sharpay Evans discovers that Troy and Gabriella plan to rain on her parade by trying out for East High’s school musical. Sharpay enlists her twin Ryan to out Gabriella as a science-loving geek. When Troy’s basketball friends find out, they are none too happy about Troy’s choice of girlfriends and a musical clique war ensues.

In the stage version of High School Musical, John Jeffrey Martin takes over the role of East High basketball player Troy Bolton. Arielle Jacobs makes the role of science club geek Gabriella Montez her own in this stage adaptation of High School Musical. The new cast is rounded out with Shaullanda LaCombe as Gabriella’s best friend, Taylor McKessie; Shakiem Evans stars as Troy’s best friend Chad Danforth and Chandra Lee Schwartz appears as Drama Club villainess Sharpay Evans.
