A somewhat comedic meditation on death set in a post-apocalyptic world, Samuel Beckett’s exploration of the grim existential realities of death presents itself in the 1957 play Endgame – widely regarded as one of Samuel Beckett’s most important works. Andrei Belgrader puts his own spin on the new Endgame.
Living in a degraded civilization and an isolated setting, the characters in Endgame face situations that are real to life. Engage the characters as they encounter the end that many humans naturally fear; order Endgame tickets from OnlineTickets.com.

Originally written in French and translated to English by Samuel Beckett himself, the title of Endgame refers to the last part of a chess game, when there are but a few surviving pieces and each player clings to the hope of victory. The script for Endgame was first published in 1957 with very explicit directions included, leaving very little room for interpretation.
The heavy nature of the issues the Endgame characters deal with leave the production susceptible to falling short of Samuel Beckett’s humor. Though Endgame isn’t a comedy, the cleverly written script lightens the content of Endgame making it an enjoyable and thought-provoking investigation of humanity at its most fundamental level. Stripped of civilization and facing no foreseeable future, the characters of Endgame deal with a basic human fear, nonexistence.
The assorted cast of Endgame features Emmy Award-winning actor John Turturro as the main character Hamm who struggles to accept the end surrounded by his family; Hamm’s parents Nell and Nagg inhabit trashcans and his surrogate son Clov is degenerate. The roles of Nell and Nagg are played by Broadway diva Elaine Stritch and classical actor Alvin Epstein with Max Casella as Clov.
To examine fundamental humanity, Samuel Beckett stripped the characters in Endgame of a future and Andrei Belgrader’s production of Endgame allows the characters to play out their fates as Samuel Beckett intended.
