Bette Midler is a living legend. When it comes to singing, acting and dancing, no one does it better than Bette Midler. From singing the classic “The Wind Beneath My Wings” to packing arenas in Las Vegas, Bette Midler has won everything from Grammys to Tonys. In all, Bette Midler has won four Grammy Awards, three Emmys and a Tony Award as well as being nominated for numerous Oscars throughout her acting career. Currently Bette Midler is setting the stage ablaze in Las Vegas as the Caesar’s Palace premiere headliner.

Bette Midler: The Rose
In 1979, Bette Midler embarked on what would be the catalyst for her singing career. The Rose is a musical-drama loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin. Bette Midler played Mary Rose Foster, a self-destructive rock star balancing on the precipice of international fame and personal autonomy. One of Bette Midler’s films, The Rose, earned two Golden Globe Awards, a Grammy for the film’s title song and an Academy Award for Best Actress. The Best Actress Oscar was given to Sally Field, however, Sally Field and Bette Midler have arm wrestled for the statuette. Sadly, Bette Midler lost both times. 

Bette Midler: Films
Since The Rose, Bette Midler’s fame was elevated to new levels. Bette Midler was offered movie deals left and right. Bette Midler starred in many successful films such as Hocus Pocus, Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Ruthless People, Outrageous Fortune, Big Business and her most popular movie, Beaches. Bette Midler won a Grammy Award for the theme from Beaches, “The Wind beneath My Wings”. Bette Midler also won Record of the Year in 1989 for the same No. 1 hit. In 2006, Bette Midler began filming Then She Found Me, directed by Helen Hunt, starring Bette Midler, Matthew Broderick and Colin Firth.

Bette Midler: Television Appearances
In addition to Bette Midler’s film accomplishments she has also guest starred on many primetime television slots. Bette Midler even had her own short-lived CBS sitcom entitled “Bette” (2000-01). However, there were reports of disagreements backstage, and the show was dropped before they even completed a whole season. Bette Midler has guest starred on “The Simpsons”, “Seinfeld”, and “The Nanny”. Bette Midler’s television career also includes an adapted version of the stage musical Gypsy.
