Cinderella History

Cinderella has been a driving force in rock for 20 years and is certainly the belle of the ‘80s glam metal ball.

Cinderella: Early Years
Cinderella formed in Philadelphia in 1982 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. While performing at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia they were spotted by superstar Jon Bon Jovi and a record contract with Mercury/Polygram Records soon followed. It was at that time that a permanent guitarist (Jeff LaBar) and drummer (Jim Drnec) were added to the Cinderella lineup.

Cinderella: Night Songs
Cinderella’s first studio album is entitled Night Songs and achieved triple platinum status. At one point Cinderella’s Night Songs was so popular it was selling 50,000 units per week. To promote Night Songs Cinderella went on tour with headliner Poison and opened for Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. Cinderella’s name became synonymous with phenomenal live shows. Over the course of their Night Songs success, Cinderella toured alongside former Van Halen front man David Lee Roth as well as other big ‘80s names like Bon Jovi on the Slippery When Wet tour.

Cinderella: Long Cold Winter
After the huge success of their first album Night Songs, Cinderella released Long Cold Winter. Long Cold Winter featured the singles “The Last Mile”, “Coming Home”, “Gypsy Road” and one of Cinderella’s biggest hits to date called “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)”. To promote Long Cold Winter, Cinderella went on a year-long tour with other big names like Scorpions, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, and Skid Row.

Cinderella: Heartbreak Station
Cinderella’s third album Heartbreak Station marked a change in musical direction for Cinderella. For Heartbreak Station Cinderella ditched the Def Leppard attitude and injected more bluesy and hardcore rock riffs into their music. Critics and fans alike compare Cinderella’s Heartbreak Station era with the likes of Deep Purple and Mott the Hoople. The singles “Heartbreak Station” and “Shelter Me” made this Cinderella album an instant classic.

Cinderella: Later Success
Recently Cinderella finished a tour with Poison and both bands celebrated the 20th anniversary of the debut of their first albums. The Poison/Cinderella tour was hugely successful, drawing in over 20,000 people per night. In 2008 Cinderella hit the road with classic rockers like Warrant, Lynch Mob, and Lynam.

This Labor Day Weekend, from August 29-31, 2008, Cinderella will perform live at the first-ever Rock The Bayou Music Festival in the heart of Houston, Texas. Rock The Bayou will join Cinderella together with rock legends and headliners Sammy Hagar, Billy Idol, and Alice Cooper. Rock the Bayou will feature nearly 40 rock bands and will be the hottest concert ticket of the summer. Don’t miss Cinderella and all its hits during the 2008 Rock the Bayou.
